Become a Mentor

Arriving in a new country, even with a wealth of experience and education, creates common challenges for newcomers seeking entry to the Canadian workforce. Success often depends upon individuals’ abilities to develop key relationships with established professionals.

The Mentorship for Immigrant Employment program connects skilled immigrants with established professionals in our community.

Are you willing to share your expertise? Step up to the challenge and also:

  • Learn more about your field from an international perspective
  • Improve your leadership skills
  • Develop professionally and personally
  • Reaffirm your coaching style and techniques
  • Help ensure a bright future for your profession
  • a meaningful difference in someone’s life and career

Qualifications:

  • Be a professional with experience in the mentee’s field of expertise
  • Be knowledgeable about the industry sector and some of the skills required to gain employment in that sector
  • Be willing to develop an awareness of the challenges newcomers face
  • Be willing to volunteer several hours per month over a time period of 4 to 6 months
  • Be able to participate in a short training/orientation program
