On Wednesday, September 26th, Anne Langille (Executive Director, WIL Employment Connections) and Steve Cordes (Executive Director, Youth Opportunities Unlimited) cut the ribbon to officially re-open The Skill Centre Employment Resource Centre in downtown London.
Located on the 2nd floor of The Skill Centre at 141 Dundas Street, the Employment Resource Centre provides resume assistance, job search support, Internet access, print/fax/photocopy and information and referral services to all London area job seekers. First opened in 1997, the centre recently underwent an extensive renovation of its facilities. The refurbishment included a significant expansion of the computer lab, including upgrades to all existing computer hardware and software and the addition of 6 new computer terminals. The centre is staffed by qualified individuals who are ready and willing to provide the necessary supports – including editing and writing resumes and covers letters; setting up email accounts; providing relevant labour market information; apprenticeship information; and filling out online and paper application forms. Funded by Employment Ontario, the facility is open every weekday (Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm). A drop-in employment counselor is also available on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
