WIL Employment Connections’ Board of Directors and staff are pleased to announce that Wilma de Rond has been named Executive Director of WIL. The search, led by Chair of the Executive Director Search Committee and Board Member, Jeff van Geel, was very extensive and lasted four months. “The Search Committee was very pleased with the quantity and quality of the candidates. It was a thorough competition which had several rounds and in the end, The Board has made the best choice for WIL,” said van Geel.
WIL Counseling and Training for Employment and WIL Employment and Learning Resources Corporation (operating as WIL Employment Connections) are non-profit organizations dedicated, primarily, to facilitating the economic and social integration of immigrant women and men and Canadian women and men into the broader community of London and area. To this end, WIL provides services in information, referral, assessment, employment counseling and preparation, and facilitation of volunteer work experience placements leading to employment.
Wilma de Rond, retired as Director of Education with the London District Catholic School Board in August 2013 and worked in several different leadership roles including principal and superintendent of education in her 32 years of experience. She has also been very active on a number of community boards including the United Way of London and Middlesex campaign cabinet, Junior Achievement, Brescia University College Council of Trustees and currently the Board of Shareholders for St. Peter’s Seminary.
“Wilma has strong knowledge of WIL having sat on the Board of Directors several years ago. She has extensive experience and has taken on increasing larger leadership roles,” says Sarah Inwood, President, Board of Directors, “Her years of experience both at WIL and in previous positions will provide us with strong strategic and operational leadership in the years ahead.”
