Province-wide kiosks for Skills International

Skills International has been funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation to design and install 20 stand-alone job interview kiosks for community-based employment agencies and resource centres throughout the province. The kiosks will provide improved access to practice interview re-sources and software for internationally trained individuals with the goal of improving employment outcomes.
Kiosks will be outfitted with a video camera and computer screen that will prompt participants through the job interview process by randomly selecting commonly-asked interview questions from a database. Participants will be able to practice their answers to each question and view instant video playback to critique their performance. Read More

Access Centre forms study groups

The Access Centre for Regulated Employment has initiated an exam study group of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) preparing for their first exam in the licensure process for physicians. The Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Exam (MCCEE) is a critical exam for IMGs on their journey to becoming a physician in Ontario. Facilitated by an Access Centre counsellor, the study group meets regularly at the Ac-cess Centre after selecting a leader and developing an appropriate study schedule. Feedback from participants has been so positive, that the Ac-cess Centre is currently in the process of developing 4 new study groups for IMGs. New Employment Counselling Service in South London

In partnership with Ontario Works, South London Neighbourhood Re-source Centre (SLNRC) and WIL Employment Connections launched a new employment counselling initiative for newcomers in January 2009.
Employment counselling provides newcomers with the necessary sup-ports in establishing a step-by-step action plan towards achieving em-ployment. The objective is to connect with newcomers at an early stage in their settlement process.  Read More
