The WILL AWARD was created in 2001 to recognize those who Welcome, Innovate, continuously Learn and show Leadership to connecting newcomers with meaningful employment in our communities. An impact of this award is its promotion of inclusivity and anti-racist practices within our communities and workplaces. This award is open to individuals, community agencies and employers.

The recipient of the 2021 Award was Ahad Al-Hakim. Ahad has been a volunteer mentor for many years which has including mentoring newcomers as well as sitting as the Chair of the WILL Immploy Leadership Council. Through Ahad’s leadership in the workplace she has participated in WILL Immploy’s Employer Engagement initiative, providing insights to help other companies more deeply engage in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. At PolyAnalytik, Ahad continues to support that diversity through her leadership as the company demonstrates best practices in inclusive hiring and retention of newcomers. Ahad continuously takes the initiative to share her lived experience and to promote the benefits and highlight the incredible talent amongst immigrant jobseekers.

This year WILL Employment Solutions is again looking to highlight the significant contributions being made to immigrant jobseekers in a variety of ways by sharing their story and impact through the WILL Award. The recipient will be invited to the WILL Annual General Meeting celebration to receive their award which also includes a monetary sum towards a charity of their choice.

Nominations are being considered until May 5th, 2022.
